Fabulous day at Hotel Tentrem Semarang

java chic - To find a gem in the hustle bustle city of Semarang, known as Kota Lumpia, imagine a perfect picture of tranquility in a fusion of javanese chinese colonial ambiance. Having a premium location in the heart of the city, PT Sido Muncul has come up with a project to build a prime five star hotel that offers a combination of luxury accomodation. A strong influence of javanese heritage culture is preserved in a beauty : HOTEL TENTREM SEMARANG

As the name indicates, "Tentrem" means serenity, tranquility. Exactly the first impression when we stepped into this building of a fine chinese architecture blending into a javanese culture and tradition touch. This particular scent, the aroma of incense we inhaled entering the hotel was so soothing, so relaxing that we felt being in an oasis in the middle of the city. It was a magical fragrance of perfect zen. One of a kind. I have stayed in Europe, Africa and Asia; and to my own experience only in two places in this world, in Madinah and Semarang, this kind of aromatic scent made me so mesmerized and it brought me instantly into a peaceful and serene state of mind. I know instantly that we would be pampered by the comfort and luxury of Tentrem Semarang.

The same feeling and note of peace when we came home from our pilgrimage in the Holy City Mecca, Madinah and Jeddah. That particular scent of incense that we could still feel weeks at home after our return, which reminds me of our illuminating journey stay and journey. It was just magical.

My only regret was if only I have brought the right attire to match and to blend with the ambiance of Tentrem Hotel, the whole picture would have been perfect. It would be nice to spend the soiree clad in a chinese silk traditonal coat, dress and heels. A little bit of an oriental style. But since the occasion was a family get together in Semarang, we left home packing casually. Nevertheless we had a  wonderful time at Tentrem Hotel. A nice chinese menu dinner to start of, some relax time by the pool, and we finish the night in the comfort of the hotel's room. We were so tired that I forgot to take picture of the room... that means we shall come back and stay again one day. But here is one taken from their website.

So after dinner we headed to the rooftop where it seems that the Hotel's entertainment area is located, and a nice poolside lounge welcomed us. It was kind of late, so surprisingly there were no other guests but us. Just great! some private time to absorb the beauty of the surrounding pool area. By the way from the room's window we had a nice view of the pool. It is nicely designed with a mermaid mosaic tiles figure on the bottom of the pool, so that was a  stunning sight from the top. Later we have discovered that the pool's mermaid design was  from a well known indonesian artist, Agus Sudarto.
A nice place to chill and relax, and my little kid loved the playground. With the family here, love and affection was in the air that night.

Thank you Hotel Tentrem Semarang for making our stay a memorable one. We had such a pleasant time.

And before leaving Semarang, of course it's time for oleh-oleh! it's a tradition one cannot skip. Speaking of "lumpia" or springrolls, it is Semarang famous delicacy hence the name of Kota Lumpia. Semarang version is a big big portion of springrolls we're talking about. Not those gourmet size in fine dining restaurant. Even we could serve a piece of lumpia into two and still have a mouthful of goodness. Yummy... lumpia is served with condiments of a thick sauce, chili padi and cut cucumbers chutneys. To add to the list Bandeng presto, Wingko Babat, and of course I would recommend also tahu bakso or fried soja meat ball. Either fried or steamed. Comes in a vaccumed packaging it can last a week, or fresh it would last three days stored in the fridge. But I guarantee it wouldn't last long at home because it's so good. A common brand would be Tahu Bakso Bu Pudji, or its related family, Tahubaxo Tahucahungaran. Easily found in front of Istana Brilliant, one of Semarang's oleh-oleh shop. Actually the husband's owner of Tahucahungaran is my cousin, the owner of fine Kuby products as well. So if you wish to order I would be happy to help, feel free to contact me through this blog, leave a comment, or do visit my other pages of social media below.
